George Welty

George Riggs Welty, 66, of Jackson, Twp. passed away Sunday March 1, 2009 at Affinity Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1942 in Massillon to George F. and Dorothy (Riggs) Welty. George graduated from Jackson High School in 1960, and Muskingum College. He was a lifelong area resident. He was an area car salesman for many years retiring in 2003. George married Susan (Tripp) on March 17, 1984 and she survives. Also surviving George are his children Julie (Todd) Yerian of Millersburg, OH, Jennifer (Tim) O’Brien of Columbus, OH, Michael (Laurie) Welty of Jackson Twp.; mother Dorothy Welty of Jackson Twp.; sister Cynthia (Terry) Baltzer of Jackson Twp; grandchildren Max Doerflinger, Taylor and T.J. Yerian all of Millersburg, Madalyn and George O’Brien both of Columbus, and Kendall Welty of Jackson Twp. He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Welty and a brother, Terry Welty. George was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and boating. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. NE. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral with Rev. Edd Matako officiating. Burial will follow at the Welty Cemetery in Beach City.
