George Stavroff, 84, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014. George was born on March 5, 1929 in Massillon, the son of the late Simon and Mary (Matako) Stavroff. George was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a United States Navy veteran and served our country during WWII. George owned his own barber here in Massillon for 27 years. He also worked for Indian River School and retired from Heinz Foods. He was an avid golfer, fisher and hunter. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Pete and Sammy Stavroff and his sister Katherine Compan. He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Tournoux) Stavroff whom he married on May 24, 1951; his children, Dennis Stavroff, Ron (Cathy) Stavroff, Mike (Janice) Stavroff, Jeanne Carroll, Remy Stavroff – Esau and Todd Stavroff; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Andy and Eddy Stavroff; and his sister, Nancy (Lee) Furney.
