George 'Lefty' Lynn

George ‘Lefty’ Lynn, age 90 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday at Amherst Meadows in Massillon. He was born on April 12, 1916 in Dillonville, OH to the late Robert and Nannie Lynn. George was a police officer and retired from the Massillon Police Department in 1959. He then went to work for Union Drawn, a division of Republic Steel and retired in 1977. He was a lifetime member of the Massillon Elks, and a member of the F.O.P. George was also active in the Harbor Club of Imperial Harbor for 25yrs. George played semi-pro baseball when he was younger, and continued to be an avid sports fan. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Lynn in 2002; son, Gary Lynn; brothers, Carl and Norman Lynn; sister, Dorothy Lynn. He is survived by; sons, Robert (Kathy Policy) Lynn of Jackson Twp., Ronald Lynn of Massillon, Raymond (Cynthia) Lynn of Massillon, Richard Lynn of Massillon and Rodney Lynn of Massillon; daughter, Vicki Sue (Terry) Horvath of Massillon; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006 at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Henry G. Harris of St. Timothy’s Episcopal, Officiating.
