George J. Bickis Sr., age 84, of Massillon passed away July 23, 2009 at Aultman Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born May 11, 1925 in Massillon to the late George & Anna (Istrate) Bickis and lived here all of his life. George was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School and entered the Army after school. George and his brother Cornell open the Cameo Bar and Grill in 1946. They were known area wide for the first ‘huge hamburgers’. In 1970, the brothers sold the Cameo. George and his son started Indenco, Inc., a supplier of shipping and industrial supplies. George holds two U.S. Patents; one for a plastic strapping buckle and the other for Korrakleet plastic strapping. George had a love for animals and spent his leisure time square dancing and being with his family. He is a member of St. George Romanian Catholic Church and an associate member of St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his brother Cornell Bickis in 1980. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Nellie (Such) Bickis of the residence, two children: Annette E. & Dan Corpe and George & Sharon Bickis Jr. all of Canton. They have seven grandchildren: Joseph Corpe, Teresa Friley, Jeremy Corpe, Erin Stayer, George Bickis, Michael Bickis and Robb Bickis. Six great grandchildren: Jonathon, Seth, Kayla, Brendan, Olivia and Nathan. A sister in law, Betty Bickis and her two sons, Jon and Robert Bickis. Funeral Service will be 1 PM Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Rev. Bruce Roth & Rev. Britt Vickstrom will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery.
