Geneva Marie (Schott) Keevert age 95 formerly of Perry Heights passed away early Friday morning at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, OH after a time of declining health. On December 8, 1924 Geneva was born in Tipton, Iowa to Albert and Minnie (Bing) Schott. At age 8 she moved with her family to a farm in Middlebranch, OH. She loved spending time with her dad doing the many farming chores, especially when it was time to pick and sell sweet corn. She graduated from Middlebranch High School in 1943 where she played the trombone in the band and was the class secretary. After graduation she worked in the office of Hercules Motors. While in high school she met her future husband, Millard "Dee" Keevert of Woodsfield, OH. In September 1942 Dee enlisted in the Marine Corp. Geneva spent the next 35 months corresponding with him as he fought in campaigns in Bouganville, Guam, and Iwo Jima before being wounded and sent stateside. Her time at Hercules Motors was her contribution to the war effort. On May 7, 1946 she married Dee Keevert and lived in the Canton/Perry Heights area until 2011. Geneva worked outside the home at Stern & Mann Company and later Timken Roller Bearing until the birth of their daughter, Sheryl, in 1955. She was a stay at home mom, but very involved in school efforts of the Genoa PTA and Perry Band Boosters. In her "retirement" years she cooked and cleaned at St. Joan of Arc rectory, was in charge of their bingo operation, and headed their bereavement committee. Baking pies and cookies for the priests gave her tremendous joy. Her cookie jar was never empty. Her green thumb from her farm days was evident in the flowers and vegetables she grew. She organized Bing family reunions and holiday family gatherings on a regular basis. Her Christmas cookie baking and cookie plate give-aways to family and friends were in the dozens. She sent cards to family and friends for all occasions and included heartfelt messages in each. Family vacations, especially trips with grandchildren to Disneyworld, were special fun times. Just as she attended every dance recital and band concert that her daughter participated in, she was just that supportive of her grandchildren, Eric and Alison Rogers. Baseball, softball, music programs, and band events elementary school through college saw her in attendance. She was at the "Shoe" with 100,000 others to watch Eric perform with the OSU Marching Band. She also watched Alison play the baritone and perform with the Highland Dancers during College of Wooster Scot Band halftime shows. Geneva has been a resident of Walnut Hills Retirement Community since October 2011. Her family wishes to extend tremendous gratitude to the staff for their constant care and concern for her throughout those years. Their comfort was a blessing for her and her family, especially during this time of the Covid pandemic. Geneva will be dearly missed by her daughter and husband, Sheryl and Lindy Rogers of Millersburg, 2 grandchildren, Eric(Robyn) Rogers of Norwalk and Alison Rogers (Zach Gardner)of Dover, and 2 great grandsons Colt and Clay Rogers. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Peg Schott, of North Canton and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Including her husband and parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her brothers and wives Larry (Gert) Schott, Nelson Schott, and Elmer (Norma) Schott, sister and husband Rose (Tom) Pullin, brothers-in-law and wives Lloyd(Ava) Keevert, Roger (Dorothy) Keevert, and Lynn (Mildred) Keevert, sisters-in-law Hilda Keevert, Helen (William)Collinson, Verda (Chuck) Curry, and Doris (Louis) King. David Weikart at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Garden.
