Gene R. Massie

Gene R. Massie, 79, passed away on August 8, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born in Beckley, WV on February 7, 1937 to the late John S. and Stella Marie (Freeman) Massie. Gene was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Republic Steel. He was an avid sports fan of the; Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Massillon Tigers. He was a member of the Massillon Senior Center. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Vieva M. (Sinnett) Massie, whom he married on September 1, 1957; their children, Larry (Anne) Massie and Daniel Massie all of Massillon; two grandchildren, Chris (Jaida) and Shawn (Nathasha) Green; four great-grandchildren, Edmond, Clayton, Analeah and Lucas; and a sister, Mary Sigley. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Keller; and a brother, Charles Massie. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 12:00pm-1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery.
