Gene L. Keller

Gene L. Keller age 78 of Massillon passed away May 21, 2010 at Chapel Hill Community. Gene was born November 28, 1931 in Massillon to the late William & Hilda (Steiner) Keller. He was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School and received his college education while in the Air Force. He retired in 1990 from Goodyear Aerospace (Lockheed Martin) as a flight simulator engineer. His passion was golf, he was a marshal at Firestone ‘World Series of Golf’ and Muirfield ‘Memorial Tournament’; volunteered at the Football Hall of Fame. Most everyone who knew Gene, knew that he loved to hunt mushrooms. Additional activities were: VFW, Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts, presented his grandson Craig with his Eagle Scout Award. Gene is survived by his wife, A. Janet (McManus) Keller with whom he shared 55 years of marriage on August 31st; three children, Kenneth (Pat) Keller of Milan, OH, Keith A. Keller and Kurt A. (Kelly) Keller, daughter in law, Margaret Keller; grandchildren; Craig, Casey, Sam, Molly Keller and Spencer Kerestes; sister, Vera (Dick) Penick of Haines City, FL and a brother Dale (Betty) Keller of Massillon. Funeral Service will be 1 PM Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and from Noon until the service on Monday. The family would to thank: University Hospital Ireland Cancer Center (Cleveland), Hope Lodge (Cleveland), Aultman Home Health Care, Chapel Hill Community, Mercy Hospice, family and friends for their support during Gene’s illness.
