Garold E. "Gary" Ross

Garold E. "Gary" Ross was born on May 8, 1944 to the late Edgar O. and Leola (Venables) Ross in Massillon. Gary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Gary graduated from Tuslaw High School in 1962. He served in the 145th Infantry Reserves of the United States Army National Guard in Fort Polk, Louisiana. After serving in the Army, Gary worked at Norfolk & Western Railroad in Brewster where he completed his electrician apprenticeship in 1972. He subsequently worked as an electrician for Ford Motor Company in the Canton Forge, Lorain Assembly, and Avon Lake Assembly Plants over his career. He retired in 2003 and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 542 Retirees of Canton. He is preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ross of Massillon; his daughter, Amy (Mark) Popovich of Massillon; grandson Kyle Popovich of Massillon; sister, Linda Ross of Massillon; half-brother Calvin (Carol) Smith of Blythewood, SC; stepson Chad (Jennifer) Jordan of Louisville, niece Diann (Jon) Preiss of Massillon, nephew David (Barbara) Rader of Massillon, niece Kate Rader of Canton; great-nephew Jon Preiss, Jr., of Cleveland; great-niece Aimee Preiss of East Canton; great-nephews Brandson Davidson, Nathan and Ben Betz of Canton; great-niece Lily Rader of Canton. Gary will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and canine companions. A Celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark Co. Humane Society.
