Fred Gayheart

Fred Gayheart age 83 of Massillon, passed away Thursday evening at Massillon Community Hospital. Fred was born in McDowell, KY on Feb. 28, 1922 to the late Lum and Myra (Moore) Gayheart and had been a resident of Massillon for the past 59 years. He retired from Tyson Roller Bearing on May 1, 1978 following 30 years of service as a Machinist. Fred was a social member of the V.F.W. in Massillon. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. Fred was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Roy Leonard, Taylor and Henry Gayheart and a sister Joy Huff. He is survived by his wife with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 24, 2005, Pansy R(Thomason) Gayheart, daughters and sons-in-law; Myra (Chuck) Agnes and Dee Anna (Steve) Steed both of Massillon, sons and daughters-in-law; Rick (Sharon), Danny (Nina), Dennis (Mary), Terry (Marsha), Fred (Dorothy) and Mark (Nichole) Gayheart all of Massillon, brother, Chip Gayheart of Waverly, OH, Sisters; Ruby Osborne of Waverly and Susie Knott of KY, 25 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with his nephew, Rev. Allan D. Osborne, officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday 1-4 PM and one hour prior to the services Monday at the funeral home. Interment will take place following the services at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville.
