Frank R. Byrd

Frank R. Byrd, age 61 of Massillon, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on March 22, 1946 in Marion, VA and was the son of the late Garnett and Hortense (Richardson) Byrd. He was raised in Rural Retreat, VA and moved to Massillon in 1977. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam Conflict. He worked in sales at Lowes and was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa R. Byrd in 1992, his brothers, Stephen Byrd and Sammy Byrd and his sister Charlotte Koger. He is survived by his wife, Carole K. Byrd, whom he married on December 9, 1967, his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Michelle Byrd of Massillon, his grandson, Jamaal Byrd of Massillon, his sisters, Jeanette Graham of Louisville, KY, Jean Patricia Hyde and Alma Pearl (Fred) Thompson and twin sister Frances Sims all of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. James A.M.E. Church with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
