Frank DeMando, age 87, of Massillon passed away Sunday May 18, 2014 surrounded by his family. Frank was born March 21, 1927 to the late Ignazio & Stella DeMando. He was a graduate of Washington High School. As a member of the Merchant Marines he served in both the Pacific and Atlantic. He retired from Eaton Mfg. after 35 years. Frank was an avid Massillon Tiger and the New York Yankees fan. He coached Little League during the 50's – 60's where his teams won several championships. His greatest enjoyment in sports was watching his grandson and great grandsons play ball. His family was his true enjoyment. In addition to his parents, four brothers preceded him in death: Joe, Tony, Sam & Charlie. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Burch) DeMando, with whom he would have shared 66 years of marriage in June. He has a daughter and son in law, Linda & Lloyd Morton; two grandchildren, Cherie (David) Elledge and Ryan (Elizabeth) Morton and four great grandchildren, Josh, Drew, Cole and Lehnon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fr Tully will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice for their kindness.
