Frank Benkovich

Frank ‘Stooky’ Benkovich age 86 of Massillon passed away August 18, 2008 at Amherst Meadows. He was born January 8, 1922 in Brewster to the late George & Mary (Tandrich) Benkovich and graduated from Brewster High School. Stooky served in the Marines during WW II. He was employed for 24 years by the N & W RR as a dispatcher, then went to work for Eaton Mfg. and following retirement worked for Acme Click Market. He belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Massillon, where he served as an usher and a member of the retirees club; and a member of the Eastside Hill Gang. Stooky was a pitcher in many area softball leagues. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Liguras, brothers, John, Charles and Andrew Benkovich. He is survived by his wife 60 years Irene (Zustin) Benkovich of the residence, and a daughter and son in law, Karen & Robert Tilley of Massillon; and two grandchildren, Dr. Amy Tilley and Ryan (LaRissa) Tilley. Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church his pastor Rev. John Telloni will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Garden. Friends may call Thursday from 10 AM until the service at the church. The family would appreciate contributions to the Retirees Club at St. John’s, or the Aultman Foundation for the new center of Compassionate Care.
