Frank A. Harter, age 94, died on Monday, March 29, 2010, at the home of his granddaughter in Massillon. He was born March 11, 1916, to the late Willis and Bertha Harter. Frank worked as a tool and die maker at the Hoover Company in North Canton where his friends called him ‘Friendly Frank’. He belonged to the First Christian Church in Canton. Frank was a member of the Eagles Club, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends camping at Pride Valley in Malvern, participated in Canton Centre’s Walk-this-Mall Club and bowled and golfed for many years. He is now reunited with his “Dear One”, Doris (Sebald) with whom he enjoyed 68 years of marriage. A sister Emma Whitmer preceded Frank in death. He is cherished by his family and leaves behind his daughter whom he adored, Gayle Harter of Massillon. He will also be missed by his caretaker of the last seven years, his granddaughter, Kris (Jim) Filhour. His other survivors include grandchildren: Ken ‘Mitch’ (Etta) Turner of Georgia, and Doug Turner of Perry Twp. Additional survivors include his sister Mary Willey of Florida, his many great grandchildren including Josh, Bethany, Forrest, Brandon, Mitch, Theresa and Ryan and his four great-great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Frank Harter will take place on Friday at 10 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, the Rev. Larry Lalama will officiate. Entombment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 9 AM until the service. Those who wish may leave a fond memory or post a condolence at www.paquelet.com.
