Fr. Robert G. Gibas

Fr.Robert G. Gibas, age 86 of Navarre passed away October 19, 2017 at AlterCare of Navarre. He was born May 15, 1931 in Kennelworth, WV to the late Frank J. & Antoinette Gibas. Fr Gibas was a graduate of the University of West Virginia and then entered Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary. He was ordained December 30, 1962 in Youngstown by Bishop Emmett M Walsh. He was assigned to St. Joseph Church (Canton), Cardinal Mooney High School (Youngstown), St. Christine Church (Youngstown), St. Ann Church (East Liverpool) and St. Clement Church (Navarre). He served the Navarre Community and St. Clement Parish for 18 years retiring in 2007. For six years while living at Altercare he served as an in house chaplain for the residents. He is survived by a niece and two nephews: Rose Gibas, Frank Gibas and Michael Gibas. In addition by the members of the Holy Family Parish, St. Clements's Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11 AM October 25th at Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Clement Church. MSGR. Robert J. Siffrin will officiate. Burial will be at St. Clement Cemetery. Fr. Gibas will lie in state at Holy Family Parish, St. Clements's Church on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass.
