Florence Scassa

Florence R. Scassa (Caracillo), 85, of Massillon passed away Monday April 20, 2009 at Country Lawn Nursing Home. She was born October 24, 1923 in Pennsylvania to the late Dominic and Carmela (DiGeorgio) Caracillo. Florence was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by son G. Frank Scassa,brother Mickey (Louise) Caracillo granddaughters Gina C. Mayle, and Nicole M. Hoffman, grandson G. Frank Scassa II, granddaughter Andrea M. Scassa, daughter-in-law Mary (Ralph) Scassa, grandson Ettore Scassa, granddaughter, Stefanie (John) Hathaway, and grandson Nick (Kasey) Scassa; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Ettore “Earl” Scassa in 1989, son Ralph D. Scassa in 1990, and brother and sister-in-law Tony (Norma) Caracillo. Calling hours will be Sunday 6-8 P.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Florence’s memory may be made to Hospice of Stark County.
