Florence M. Johnston, 104, of Canal Fulton, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Florence was born on January 25, 1920, in Canton, Ohio to John and Mary (Orzech) Maciag.
She began her career behind the lunch counter at Woolworth in downtown Canton, which started a lifetime of appreciation for her fantastic baked goods. Later working for the Timken Company during WWII, then Val's Candy Co., but most respectfully as a homemaker, overflowing with love and taking on every challenge for her family. She was actively involved at Fairlawn Lutheran Church and currently a member of St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church. She is an honorary member of the Polish-American Citizen's Club.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse B. Johnston, Sr. in 2010 being married for 57 years, her son John Vukas in 1991, her brothers, Edward Maciag Sr., Stan Maciag, Sr. and her sisters, Helen Waltz and Sophie Lombardi.
She is survived by her children, Susan Johnston, Kathleen Johnston, Judith (Vukas) Gardner, and Jesse (Kim) Johnston, Jr.; and her telepathic bond with her grandson, David Stefanko, Jr.; and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church in Canton. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 6-8 pm.
