Florence K. Schumaker Age 100 of Massillon, Ohio Florence K. Schumaker passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15 at Amherst Meadows of Massillon. She was born on March 8, 1910 in Strasburg, Ohio to the late Albert and Lydia Seese. She graduated from Strasburg High School and attended Kent State University majoring in education. Upon certification as a teacher she then taught elementary school in Strasburg for five years prior to her marriage to her high school sweetheart Cloyce Schumaker. They moved to Massillon in 1935. She later returned to teaching in 1955 and taught third grade at Harvey Elementary for six years prior to transferring to a position as a kindergarten teacher at Whittier School from which she retired in 1973. Following her retirement she and her husband spent many enjoyable winters with close friends and family at Marco Island, Florida. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Massillon, a volunteer with Red Cross, a former member of Brookside Country Club and served on the Women's Board at the former Massillon Community Hospital for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Cloyce in 1997, to whom she was married for 63 years, and by her brothers Forrest and Keene Seese. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Dickson and her husband William of Canton, her grandson Andrew Dickson and his wife Beth of Berea, Ohio and two great grandchildren Andrew and Alyssa Dickson. She is also survived by nieces; Irene Rauber of Massillon, Susan Seese of Navarre, Carolyn Fetters of Arizona, Jo Anne Schie of Strasburg and nephew James Schrader of Florida. A memorial service will be held on January 22 at 11AM at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Florence's name be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 101 Tremont Ave. SE, Massillon, OH 44646; the American Red Cross Stark County Chapter, 525 Market Ave., Canton, OH 44702 or to a charity of donor's choice.
