Farakana As-Samad, age 77 of Massillon, passed away Friday evening at Aultman Hospital. She was born in Canton to the late Jackie & Lilly Weedy (White) Wilson on January 22, 1929. While in junior high school Farakana met Cleme, who she later married after graduating from McKinley. She was nurse at Massillon Community Hospital & she then became an LPN at State Hospital. In 1965 Cleme & Farkana opened Shalem Rest Nursing Home in Massillon. They later opened Nu`man House in Massillon & Corman Health Care in Canton. She loved to buy & sell antiques & spend time with her family. Cleme & Farakana were both entrepreneurs in our community for more than 50 yrs.. She is preceded in death by her parents, & her loving husband, Cleme As-Samad in 2004. She is also preceded by her brother, Nathanial Inman Survived by 3 sons Rasheed & Patricia As-Samad of California Gary & Janice As-Samad of California Marvin & Sheila As-Samad of Atlanta, Georgia 1 sister Johnnie May Butler of Canton First cousin William Good of Dayton Numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren & a host of nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be 1 PM Thursday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 12 – 1 P.M. on Thursday. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
