Evelyn Mae Bretz

Evelyn Mae Bretz, age 83 of Massillon passed away Friday at Aultman Hospital. Evelyn was born November 22 1923 in Athens County to the late Dallas & Alice (Andrews) Christman. She lived most of her life in Massillon and retired from Massillon Community Hospital. She was a member of the Massillon Senior Center, and was a former member of the Emerald Court Order of the Amareth and the Massillon Shrine Ladies of the Oakes. Evelyn is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Massillon. She was preceded in death by her first husband James Dekan in 1987 and two sisters and two brothers. Evelyn is survived by her husband George H. Bretz with whom she shared 19 years of marriage. Two children: James (Judy) Dekan of Humble, TX and Marsha L. Dekan of Dallas, TX. Two step-children: Michele (Donald) Hysong of Massillon and Michael Bretz of Massillon. In addition there is a grandson and six step-grandchildren and two step-great daughters. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon; Intern Brian Weinberger and Rev. Mark Oster will officiate. Burial will be at Massillon Cemetery.
