Evelyn D. Smith

Evelyn D. Smith, age 83, of Jackson Twp. (recently of the Canton Regency) passed away Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the Aultman Hospital. Evelyn was born July 15, 1927 in Connellsville, PA to the late James G. & Hazel E. (Havner) Beal. Following graduation from Connellsville High School in 1946, she began a career as a bookkeeper for the original Levin Furniture Store in Connellsville that has grown into a national chain. In 1953 she married W. William Smith which began a marriage that lasted 57 years until his passing in September 2010. They lived many years in Uniontown, PA until moving to Massillon in 1974. Her family was central in her life. Many hobbies, especially sewing, filled her time. Cooking, baking and sharing her favorite jam provides many fond memories of her. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her two daughters and their families, Jacquelyn & Mark Curtis of Carlisle, PA and Janet & Larry Marks of Louisville; grandchildren, Jason & Megan Curtis, Brian, Ben and Vanessa Marks; a sister Virginia A. Rendine and a brother James Beal both of Connellsville, PA. Funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Fr. Bob Miller officiating.
