Eugene B. Burke, age 84 of Massillon, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 in Massillon. He was born on August 19, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio and was the son of the late Oscar and Jessie Lenora (Smith) Burke. He retired from the Keebler Corporation where he was a truck driver. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Oscar Paul Burke, his twin sister, June Crawford and second wife of many years, Victoria. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie”, his sister, Dorothy Poling of California; step children, Daniel (Sheila) Steiner of Rochester, NY, Dana Steiner of Jamestown, NY, Darlene R. S. Dewey of Rochester, NY; step grandchildren, Shaina and Dayle Steiner of Rochester, NY; nieces, Deborah (John) Mertell of Washington, Paulette (Blythe) Poling of Kentucky, Kay (Dave) Titmus of Florida; nephew, Gary & Evie Johnson of CA and many other nieces and nephews. Eugene was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1939. He has been a zealous preacher of the good news of God’s Kingdom for more than 70 years. (Matthew 24:14). Eugene served as a loving elder for 16 years in the Massillon East Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and will be greatly missed by his family and many spiritual brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 1:30 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2177 Nave Road SE in Massillon. Paquelet – A Golden Rule Funeral Home 330-833-3222
