Ester L. Davis, 93, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born in Massillon on March 4, 1923 to the late Alvin S. and Clara A. (Schleuencker) Hauenstein. She graduated from Washington High School and Canton Actual Business College. Ester was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army Air Corps and later worked thirty-three years as a writer for the Canton Repository. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, International Typographic Union serving as Treasurer of the Canton Local Union Massillon Community Hospital Auxiliary serving as president on the board, American Legion and the Massillon Women's Club. She sang with the Sweet Adeline's later the Lincoln Ladies. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (David) McClay; five grandchildren, John (Lynette) McClay, David (Tina) McClay, Jr., Joshua (Shannon) McClay, Sr., Thomas Davis, Jr. and Angela (Ross) Wright; twelve great-grandchildren, John "Tripp", Joshua, Ivan, Keelan, Ryan, Walker, Wyatt, Bobby, Austin, Devyn, Danielle and Emily; a great-greatgrandson, Brantley; a sister, Beulah (Eldon) Shaffer; and a good friends Steve and Carol Mullins and Family, Iola Hillbrecht and Susan Keller. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas D. Davis, Sr.; and a sister Ruth Macune. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at Epworth United Methodist on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:00am, Pastor Carolyn Nichols, officiating.
