Ernest A. Sarianides age 85 of Massillon passed away Saturday April 7, 2007 at Affinity Medical Center-Massillon Campus. He was born June 1, 1921 in Uhrichsville to the late Lazarus & Agape Sarianides and soon moved to Massillon. Following high school he entered the Army and served in WW II and Korea. Ernie was part of the D Day landing at Normandy, was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart for action in Korea. He retired from the military and became a staff representative for the United Steel Workers of America. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Theresa Ann Wagner, and two sisters, Ardemicia Manos & Vasie Guleff Ernie is survived by his wife Rose M. Sarianides of the residence, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. They have five children: Drena (Jim) McCurdy of Lexington, OH, Lynda (John) Phillips of Mansfield, OH, Margaret (Dale) Easterday of Jeromesville, OH, Joseph Sarianides of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Sarianides of Massillon. There are seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie has four sisters: Mary Van Carter of Massillon, Olga Pachis of Massillon, Bessie Pearson of Bay City, MI and Margaret Gibson of Massillon Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday April 11, 2007 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon.
