Erma Bowen Mcneal

Erma Bowen McNeal, age 96, a lifelong resident of Canton, passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Laurels of Massillon. The daughter of the late Ray L. and Lillian E. Bowen, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. McNeal in 1978; her son, Michael C. McNeal in 1987; brother, Ray E. Bowen and two great grandchildren. She was a 1930 graduate of McKinley High School and attended Kent Sate University. She worked at the Canton Automobile Club Insurance Department before opening her own real estate agency. She was artistic and had a lifetime love of reading and writing poetry. She is survived by a son, Dennis (Jamie) McNeal of Irvine California; daughters, Marilyn (Lance) Rinehart and Carol (Robert) Haley of Jackson Twp.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Bowen of Canton, Walter of Alaska and Richard of Chagrin Falls. Our mother was loyal and loving, devoted to her family, kind, generous and sweet. She loved all children. She was our teacher, our inspiration and our role model. She was our Mother and all of her family will miss her and cherish her memory always. A family memorial service will be held.
