Emily B. Dayhuff, age 91 peacefully left her family and friends on January 16, 2013. She was born on February 20, 1921 in Holly, Michigan to the late Anthony and Rose Falkowski. Emily spent her early years in the Detroit area and still has some surviving family members there. During World War II, she worked at the Willow Run Air Force Base, where she met and then married Wilson Mehl in 1942, and they shared 43 years together until his passing in December 1985. Emily was fortunate enough to find a true friend and companion in Ernie Dayhuff and they were married in 1987 and he survives her. A Massillon resident since 1948, she was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. Emily was a woman of many interests, she loved gardening, traveling, dancing and most importantly spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered as the family organizer with a fun-loving heart, and a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend. Emily's memory will be cherished by her family and friends forever and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to Ernie, she is survived by her 3 sons with Wilson; Dave and Kathy of Port Clinton, OH; Don and Carolyn of Jackson Township, and Rob of Massillon; her grandchildren Chris, Scott, Lisa, Tyler, Samantha, and Jack; and great-grandson Brock. In addition to her parents, and her first husband Wilson, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Gertrude Shotwell and Irene Rei. A Funeral will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 12 noon. Father Raymond Paul officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the time of the service. A brief committal service will be held at the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery with interment to follow.
