Elmer Bennett

Elmer Bennett, 85, of North Lawrence, passed away surrounded by his family on December 31, 2022.

He was born on March 2, 1937 to the late Samuel and Emma (Miller) Bennett in Bradshaw Twp., NC.

Elmer was a graduate of Unicoi County High School in Erwin TN. He retired from Republic Steel in 1999 after 40 plus years.

He was a member of Forty Corners Church, USWA, VFW, Sons of Herman and several groups at church. He was an avid outdoorsman, with hunting and fishing being his favorites. Elmer was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Elmer is survived by his children, Debbie A. Coberly, James (Nataliya) Bennett, Melanie D. Domin and Kelly (Samuel) Pittman; grandchildren, Jennifer Unkefer, Jason Featheringham, Zack Moran, Gabrielle Wheeler, Seth (Kaylee) Pittman, Brooke (Trevor) Riordan, Hannah (Tyler) Weisgarber, Morgan Smith, Quentin, Augustin, and Parker Bennett; 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nola (Bill) Houck, Shirley Bryant, Lurley Bryant, Pauline (Leslie) McKinney, Marilyn Kaye (Ben) Ruble and Marsha Faye (Alvin) Howard Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Bennett; daughter, Gretchen Featheringham; brother, Conway Bennett; and brothers-in-law, Clyde and Maynard Bryant.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, 12:30 pm to 1:30pm at Forty Corners Church, with the funeral services to begin at 1:30 pm with Pastor Scott Haynes officiating.

Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery.
