Ellen J. Burton

Ellen J. Burton, 89, formerly of Canton, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at Conway Manor in Conway, SC. . She was born July 21, 1920 a daughter of the late Samuel Jamison and Florence Neal Garrett. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Surber Clyde Burton; a son, Bruce C. Burton; a daughter, Melba Jean Burton; three sisters, Lois Meeks, Flora Jean Mooney and Irene Turner and two brothers, Carl and Fred Garrett. She was a member of Conway Church of God and a minister’s wife for forty years. She is survived by one daughter, Claudette Oliver (Duane) of Myrtle Beach; one sister, Catherine McCarson of GA; six grandchildren, Sherri Jones, Kristin Thompson (Jeff), Tracey Powers and David, Dennis and Derrick Arney; one special nephew, Billy Turner; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many other family and friends who will miss her. A service to celebrate the life of Ellen Burton will be held 11:00 A.M. in Friday, October 23, 2009 at Arnold Lynch Funeral Home with Pastor Web Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
