Ella Mae Relford

Ella M. Relford, age 64 of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 3, 2018. Ella was born on March 27, 1954 in Greenville, Mississippi the daughter of the late Scemore & Mary Maedow (Stevenson) Gaines. Ella loved catering. She was an active member of the Friends of the Library at Massillon City Library and an active member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church. She was President of the choir and a Deaconess at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church. Most of all Ella loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Scemore Gaines, Jr. and Jimmy Lee Gaines. She is survived by her husband Johnny E. Relford whom she married on June 6, 1970; her children, Don C., Lawanda M., Vincent C. and Candee M. Relford; grandchildren, Arriean, Quintin, Tyra, Zachary, Bralee, Justus, Vincent, Jr. and Raylynn Relford, and Kevin Dogan; great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Dominic, Carter and Ryleigh Relford, and Kevin, Jr. and Kaleigh Dogan; sister, Ora Lee Jefferson; brothers, Jessie (Geraldine) Williams and Booker Titus Williams; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mary Driver, Bonnie Longshore and Ruby Arrington. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. James AME Zion Church. Interment will follow at Massillon Cemetery.
