Ella L (Reed, Smart) Haas

Ella (Reed, Smart) Haas Age 87, of Jackson Township, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Ella was born on October 21, 1932 in Spencer, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, two previous husbands, Dick Reed and Dick Smart, and her son, Dan Reed. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Robert Haas, her daughter, Debbie (Dale) Russell, granddaughter, Lindsay (John) Arendash, grandson, Cody Russell, great-grandson, Luke Arendash, Robert’s daughters, Barb Palmer and Liz Duplain along with his three grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ella graduated from Spencer High School then moved to the Canton/Massillon area where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a homemaker for a number of years then worked for Dr. Loeffler and Powell Chiropractic. She later lovingly cared for her two young grandchildren, which she never considered work. Ella was a long-time member of the Canton Baptist Temple and most recently, when in better health, attended Perry Christian Church and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Ella will be deeply missed and remembered for her kind, generous and loving heart. She was a woman of faith and knew Jesus as her personal Savior. Many people extended support over the course of Ella’s decline in health. A special thank you to these individuals: Cheryl Winter, for all her delicious meals, the wonderful caregivers from Home Instead, the kind staff at Aultman Compassionate Care Center and Barb Palmer, who so lovingly helped care for Ella. Cremation has already taken place. Family and friends will be received on December 27th from 12:00-1:00, with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 at Perry Christian Church 139 Perry Dr. NW Canton. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ella’s name may be made to Perry Christian or St Paul’s Lutheran Church.
