Ella (Slabaugh) (Vogelsong) Dix Ella Dix, 90, of North Canton went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2014 following an extended illness. Ella was born to Joseph and Anna (Yoder) Slabaugh at home on August 27, 1923 in Barrs Mills, Ohio. She was married at twenty three years of age to David R. Vogelsong in Grantham, PA and had four children. She was employed as an LPN at Massillon, State Hospital where she retired after more than thirty five years of service. In 1976, she married Ralph Goodman Dix of Canton. Ella was a very dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph Dix, her brothers Monroe, Lando, Jerry, Homer, Henry, Joe and one sister Emma. She is survived by her three children and their families David (Lindy) Vogelsong of Navarre, Greg (Susan) Vogelsong of Wadsworth, and Pamela (Kenneth) Williams of North Canton; Her three sisters Ada Bailey, Betty (Jim) Tombow, and Dorothy (Jim) Brown; Her four brothers Roman (Irma) Slabaugh, Freeman (Audrey) Slabuagh, Clarence (Joann) Slabaugh, and Harold (Helen) Slabaugh. There are sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and eight great, great grandchildren as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Ella was raised in the conservative Mennonite and Sippo Valley Brethren in Christ churches. She joined Amherst Community Church in 1963 where she was still a member. Ella was a very faithful steward of our Lord Jesus Christ. For many years she volunteered at the Mennonite central committee (MCC) in Kidron and adopted many children from Children International. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Paquelet & Arnold- Lynch Funeral Home of Massillon with Pastor Calvin Hamblin officiating. Burial will take place at North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8pm and one hour before the service on Thursday Morning. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Women's Board of Aultman Hospital, www.aultmanangelauction.com.
