Elizabeth Bargides, age 89 of Canton, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 surrounded by her loving children. She had a great faith in God. Elizabeth was a beloved mother, aunt and Yia Yia. She was born September 7, 1918 in Canton to Sarantis and Maria (Malor) Trikilas. She worked at the former Old King Cole Co. Yia Yia Lizzie always had wonderful stories to tell and taught her many grandchildren how to bake Greek pastries and crochet. She had a special part in the lives of her children, grandchildren and special grandson, James Waters whom has made his home with Yia Yia from many years. Last year she attended most of her great – grandson’s Tiger football games. Yia Yia Lizzie will be missed for her generous spirit, easy smile and big heart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers: Clara Lavdas, Christine Eframedes, Nicholas Trikilas and Louis Trikilas. Elizabeth is survived by five children and their spouses; Helen Neketis of Chicago, Frank & Judy Bargides of Lousiville, Clara Zink of Canton, Mary Lou Scassa of Massillon and Esther and Roger Blansett of Canton, sister Helen Trikilas of Chicago and sister-in-law Margaret Trikilas of Canton. Elizabeth had twelve grandchildren; Kimberly Cadman, Angel Neketis, William Neketis, Bart Bargides, Renee Marshall, Diane Crislip, Christopher Zink, Sherry Lynn Dixon, Ettore Scassa, Stephanie Hatheway, Nicholas Scassa and James Waters. Yia Yia had 22 great – grandchildren who she loved dearly. Special God – child Maria DeStefano and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, pastor Father Daniel Rogich PhD will officiate. Elizabeth’s father was one of the founding members of Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon and Wednesday 10:00 AM – 11:00 at the church . A Trisagion Service will be at 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
