Elaine Joan Shulok, 62 of Sandusky, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. Elaine was born on June 25, 1947 in Massillon to Joseph A. & Lillie M. (Hodak) Shulok. She graduated from Perry High School in 1965, Bowling Green State University in 1969 with a B.A. Spanish & English and then she got her Masters Degree in Reading from Bowling Green State University. She had been employed as a high school teacher (Spanish & Reading) with the Metro Cleveland area and Huron County Schools in Ohio and then as a regional sales representative for Macmillan Publishers Academic Division: Design/Sales High School Reading Programs. Elaine was a member of the Ohio State Teachers’ Association and a member of St. Mary’s Church in Sandusky, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John J. Shulok. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Sharon Shulok of Westerville, OH, Lily & Dr. Jerry Barucky of San Antonio, TX, Janine & Bruce Barut of Newton, MA; brothers & sister-in-law, Joseph J. Shulok, Thomas & Elizabeth Shulok; and her life partner, Bill Luman of 20 years. Elaine enjoyed local travel, boating on Lake Erie, sharing a cup of coffee at Bob Evans with friends and family, relaxing in her backyard in the summertime and spoiling her beloved cat, Angel. She will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, thoughtfulness and caring support for others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating. Friends may call Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
