Edward Joseph McElfresh, 64, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. Ed was born May 1, 1958, Ralph and Lucille (Lesh) McElfresh.
Ed was a master furniture maker, cabinet maker and carpenter. Ed’s woodworking craft was a passion he thoroughly enjoyed.
Ed a 1976 graduate of Perry High School, as a young boy established an impeccable work and life skills ethic. A newspaper carrier, bus boy, employee for A&D Foodarama, furniture maker, cabinet maker, carpenter and excellent, dedicated employee for Aultman Hospital for 25 plus years.
Behind the scenes no one knew of Ed’s dedication and tireless, hard work helping to ensure the success of the Angel Auction at Aultman Hospital.
Ed was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and is remembered by his friends as the greatest foosball player, the best coach of their adult girls softball team, and an excellent rib “barbecuer”. E - D was the sweetest, kindest, most loyal, fun person they knew. Ed lived with Jesus in his heart.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon.
Ed was preceded in death by his loving parents and his former wife Julie.
Ed was a devoted loving father and caretaker to his stepson Christopher Cody Newman. As well as a loving supportive father to his stepdaughter, Brittany VanGorp-Scheel. Both of whom survive him.
In addition, Ed is survived by one brother and three sisters (and their spouses): Michael
McElfresh, Rona Jasionowski, Denise Lane, Susan Tormasi
Our brother Ed was the kindest of souls, with the biggest heart of gold, an infectious bright smile, always warming your spirit, always caring for and putting others before himself. Ed will be for ever missed by his siblings, family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. God Bless you Ed, we love you.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 between 1 and 3 pm at the Lake Cable Club House & Pavilion.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2022, by the Very Rev. Canon Matthew Mankowski, officiating. 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 322 Third St. SE, Massillon, OH. Please join us for Mass. Inurnment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
Ed chose to be an organ donor. Thru the caring touch of the hearts and hands of Lifebanc efforts are joined to care for all those who benefit from the gift of life given by Ed.
