Edward J. Blanda, 67, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2017 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease/ Parkinson’s Dementia. He was a graduate of Perry High School Class of 1967 and he attended Miami University of Ohio as well as Kent State/Stark. Ed retired after 40 years of service with Fishers Foods. He was a lifelong sports fan and helped coach his sons’ youth baseball teams, played fumbleball for 40 years, including many years with Tim’s Tavern, and was inducted into the Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. Ed was also an ASA umpire. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Catherine (Milhoan); sons Brian (Nick Harrison), Michael (Lisa) and Matthew (Stephanie); grandchildren Anthony, Makenzie, Dylan, Rylan and Connor; brothers Jack (Linda), Michael (Wendy), Richard ( Kathy) and sister Bonnie (Daniel) Wagner; sister and brother in law Linda and Fred Fitch; many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Theresa (Chilzer) Blanda. The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
