Edward A. “E.A.” Galey, age 75, of Massillon died Sunday afternoon at Aultman Hospital. He was born in Massillon, May 14, 1929, and was the son of the late Otto and Rose (Kupfer) Galey. He was a lifelong area resident. He had been employed at Tyson Roller Bearing where he worked in heat treat. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. An avid sports enthusiast, E.A. was inducted into the Canton Softball Hall of Fame. He was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong Tiger football fan. He is survived by his wife Betty V. (Flounders) Galey, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage July 25 of this year. He is also survived by his daughter, Mrs. Christine (David) Fleury of Margate, Fla.; his stepsons, Robert E. Geckler and Timothy B. (Sue) Geckler, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his daughter-in-law, Shirley Lemmon Geckler of Coconut Creek, Fla.; his brother, Otto Galey of Massillon; sisters, Betty (Steve) Hiegel of Massillon, Ruth Galey of Arlington, VA, and Gertrude King of Massillon; brother, Charles (Peg) Galey of Columbus; and 6 grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, L. Wayne Geckler. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, or the Flower Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. –––
