Edward “Booter” Bartko, age 80 of Navarre, passed away Monday morning at his residence following an extended illness. Ed was born on Jan. 12, 1925 in Massillon to the late Matthew and Susan (Greko) Bartko and resided in Navarre – Massillon area his entire life. He was a WWII Army Air Corp. serving as a Crew Chief. Ed retired from Union Drawn Steel following 34 years of service in the Straight Bar and the Maintenance Departments. He was a member of VFW Post # 5047 in Navarre, American Legion Post #221 of Massillon, retirees club of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Ed was an avid bowler, enjoyed the Cleveland Browns and Indians. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Graydon Bartko (July 14, 1984), Brothers, Bill and Daniel Bartko, Sisters; Helen Taylor, Mary May and Velma Bartko. Ed is survived by his wife with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on July 20, 2005, Julia L. (McDonald) Bartko, Daughter and son-in-law; Debbie and Barry Van Bremen of Santa Clarita, Calif., Sister; Anne Solepek of North Canton, Grandchildren; Michael and Mandy Bartko of Massillon, Brenda and Mike Hicks of Phoenix, Ariz., Great Grandchildren; Marissa and Michael Bartko and Taylor Stutzman and his beloved pet dog Trina. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Massillon with Pastor Dennis Engler officiating. Calling hours will be Friday 5-8 PM at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens.
