Edith Smith, age 84 of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on January 22, 1921 in Canton, Ohio to the late Otho and Ethel Horne. Edith was a life long resident of Massillon. She had been employed by the S.S. Kresge dime store, the Massillon Rubber Co. and then retired from A&D Foodarama as a cashier in 1983. Along with her parents Edith is preceded in death by: Husband: Adrian “Peck” Smith, who passed away in 1980 2 Brothers: Charles and Otto Horne Jr. Sister: Fern Britton Grand-daughter: Denise Speakman who passed away in 1974 Daughters: Linda (Ed) Hendon of Massillon Carol (Tom) Gallion of Massillon Son: Jack (Karen) Smith of Navarre Sister: Emmy Hug of Canton Brother: Richard (Cindy) Horne of Canton Grandchildren: 7 Great-grandchildren: 14 The family extends a very special thank you to Dr. Chryssos, staff doctors, and the entire staff of the CVSIC Unit at Mercy Medical Center who gave such loving care to Mom and all our family. We also would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Rochester Park – Navarre for your love and care over the last year. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Dr. Roger Alber of the First Baptist Church in Massillon will be officiating.
