Edith L. Peterson

Edith L. Peterson, 86 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Edith was born in Massillon on July 25, 1929 the daughter of the late John and Mary (Porazzo) Santilli. She was a lifelong resident of Massillon and a 1947 graduate of Washington High School. Edith met her husband Jack at Griscom - Russell Manufacturing in 1948 where she was a secretary. They married in 1950 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. She worked as a legal secretary throughout her career and enjoyed cooking, playing golf, playing cards with friends and spending time with family. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, Frank, Robert and Tony Santilli and her sisters, Elvira Pendolino, and Adeline Ogle. She is survived by her husband Jack D. Peterson, her daughter, Nancy (Karl) von Gunten of Cary, NC and her son David Peterson of Canton; her granddaughter, Laura von Gunten of Plano, TX; her sister, Marianne O'Brien – Wise of N. Canton; her brother-in-law Bill Peterson of Massillon; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Patty Miller, her devoted caregiver, for all of the love and support she provided. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 – 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
