Duane 'Jay' Fildes, Jr.

Duane “Jay” Fildes, Jr. age 57 of Jackson Township, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011. He was born on July 30, 1953 in Canton, the son of Duane Fildes, Sr. and Shirley (Boyd) Powell. Duane was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1971 graduate of Perry High School. Duane was employed at Ohio Meat Packing as a mechanic, he formally worked for Flutes. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and camping. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Lee Grand Fildes, Vernice Milner, Clyde Boyd and Mildred Boyd and his Step-father, Bud Powell. He is survived by children, Sarah (fiance’ Bob Runk) Fildes of Sarasota, FL, Michael Fildes and Shawn Fildes both of Canton, and Michelle Fildes (Mike Towey) of O’Fallon, MO; his ex-spouse Jean Bradley of Canton; his father and step-mother Duane L. (Donna) Fildes, Sr. of Massillon; his mother, Shirley Powell of Mineral City; his grandchildren, Maddex Duane and Olivia Jean Fildes; his siblings, Craig (Joyce) Fildes of Canton, Lisa (Mike) Dexter of Akron, Robyne (Kevin) Huffman of Barberton and Vincent Fildes of Canton; his loving companion Jenny Lindsey of N. Canton; his nieces and nephews, Kory Huffman, Amanda (fiance’ Cody Clark) Woolbert and Alisha (fiance’ Ryan Oehler) Woolbert and Jacob (Jessica Henderson) Morris, Cort Dexter and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
