Dr. Robert Arnold

Dr. Robert L. Arnold, 79, went to his heavenly reward on October 13, 2017. Bob was born on New Year’s Eve in 1937, setting the stage for a lifetime of excellent birthday parties. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1955. Bob was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Knox College in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Marylyn, in 1958, completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Northwestern University in 1963, and began his 30-year career with Monsanto Co. in St. Louis. Bob and Marylyn would later live in Nitro, WV and Medina, OH before moving to Heath, OH upon his retirement. A true Renaissance man, Bob had numerous and wide-ranging interests and activities. Retirement in 1993 brought the freedom to pursue additional hobbies. After losing Marylyn in 2011, Bob moved back to Wadsworth. Left to honor and remember Bob in love are his three children, Curtis (Lucy) Arnold, Donna (Joe) Tanner, and Glenda Arnold, grandchildren David (Jessica) Ross, Deborah Ross, Michael Merklin, Jacob Arnold, Thomas Arnold, Nicholas Tanner, and Katherine Tanner, brother William (Yvonne) Calhoon, sister-in-law Linda St. John, many well-loved nieces and nephews, and special companion Anne Hablitzel. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marylyn, parents, and sister, Rita. Memorial arrangements are being handled privately by the family.
