Dr. Raymond John McMahon, Jr., 92, of Canton, passed away suddenly on April 22, 2023 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
He was born on June 20, 1930 to the late Raymond and Ruth (Warth) McMahon in Canton, OH.
Raymond was a graduate of St. Johns High School, John Carroll College and Marquette University School of Medicine. He was a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corp. A long time physician, Raymond served the Massillon area as a doctor of internal medicine for twenty-eight years. He then went on to be one of the founding members of Home Town Health, serving as Medical Director and Sr.Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. He eventually retired from Aetna Health were he served as Medical Director and Vice President of Health Services Management. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and was a 4th degree member, Knights of Columbus. He also served on the boards of numerous national and local area medical establishments.
Raymond is survived by his loving children, Michael (Penny) McMahon, Colleen (Dan) Grove, Ruth (Patton) Teagle and Patrick (Stacey) McMahon; nine grandchildren, Mike, Dan, Erin, Meagan, Nolan, Caitlyn, Casey, Courtney and Dustin; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia McMahon, wife, Jule McMahon; and siblings, Rosemary Shearer and Robert McMahon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023, 5:00 pm - 7:00pm at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, 2023, 10:30 am at St Mary's Catholic Church, Massillon by The Very Rev. Cannon Fr. Matthew Mankowski.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude's Research Hospital and Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
