Dr. Ralph A. Waltman, 71, of Jackson Twp., passed away on October 16, 2014, unexpectedly. He was born in Cleveland on June 15, 1943, to the late Ralph E. and Elizabeth (Davidovics) Waltman. As a lifelong educator, Ralph had a passion for educating children and adults. He spent the majority of his career working in Stark County, Ohio as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He retired from the Stark County Educational Service Center as Assistant Superintendent in 1995. After receiving his PH.D., in educational administration, he served as Superintendent of Washington County Schools, NC. He later went on to become an adjunct professor at both Ashland University and Kent State University. Ralph was a member of St. Michael's Parish. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol (Bezzeg) Waltman; their children Lisa Waltman of Jackson Township and David (Susanne) Waltman of Jackson Township; a grandson, Aaron; two sisters Kathy Correa and Laurie (Carl) Bystrom; family caregivers Sue and Carol; and his beloved pet Max. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Waltman. Friends may gather on October 30, 2014 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm.
