Dr. John R. Hickey

Dr. John R. Hickey age 77 of Cleveland passed away Friday, May 25 2007in Columbus. He was born February 18, 1930 in Dover to the late James & Marguerite (McKeever) Hickey. He was raised in Massillon and was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School. John received an honorable discharge from the Army. He graduated from Ohio Northern University as a pharmacist and then attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA. He practiced in Cleveland for 30 years and retired in 1998. He was both a pharmacist and a physician at Brentwood Hospital. His wife of 56 years, Patricia (Sill) Hickey passed away in 2006. Additionally a sister, Alice Williams and a brother, James Hickey predeceased him. He is the father of three: John Scott Hickey and his wife Beverly of Houston, TX, Cindy Kerr and her husband Chuck of Powell, OH, and Pam Kiefer and her husband Tom of Dublin, OH. Surviving are a sister, two brothers and sisters in law: Rosemary (Paul) Failor of Massillon, Tom Hickey of Canton, Bob (Martha) Hickey of Massillon and Vi Hickey Williams of Canton. Grandchildren: Grant, Matthew, Dylan Hickey; Josh, Shannon (Ryan) Schlagbaum, Brittany, Lindsay, Sean Kerr; Evan, Kyle Kiefer; Sarah (Michael) Voss, Erin, Joseph Boll. And great-grandfather of Faith and Rachael. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3 PM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 PM until the time of the Mass at St. Joseph Church.
