Douglas Turner, age 48, was born in Enid, OK on June 22, 1963 and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2012. Despite blindness and many health problems he led a very productive life. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1983 and has worked ever since. His employment has included, Goodwill, Fitness Quest, West Stark and Whipple Dale Centers and since 1999 he has been employed by PaPa John's Pizza where he was called the 'box folding king". He loved his job and was an avid Steelers fan. He liked checking out new restaurants, keeping abreast of the news and spending time with his family. He owned his own home which he shared with his 2 cats. His accomplishments, humor and zest for life were an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Gayle Harter of Massillon and Kenneth R. Turner of Akron; brother, Kenneth M. (Etta) Turner of GA; sister, Kristine (James) Filhour and grandmother, Martha Turner of Massillon. He is also survived by half sisters, Kerrie and Julie Turner of FL and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 AM Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Rev. Larry Lalama will officiate. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 PM and from 10 AM until the service on Monday.
