Douglas J. Schmidt

Douglas Joseph Schmidt, 52, passed away on September 25, 2021, following a prolonged battle with cancer. He was born in Massillon on July 8, 1969, attended St. Mary’s Elementary and graduated from Perry High School Class of 1987. He was a graduate of Walsh University. Doug worked for Dressler Rd Target. Doug was a sports fanatic, cheering on all the Cleveland teams and Perry High School Athletics. He even held membership as a BW3 Brown’s Backer’s. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon, were he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Third Degree Member of Massillon Council 554, Knights of Columbus. Doug’s greatest love and dedication was for his family. He is survived by his parents, Raymond A. and Judith B. (Appleby) Schmidt; siblings, Kirk (Melinda) Schmidt, Steven (Kathleen) Schmidt and Annette (Vince) Simone; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Dave, Bonnie, Ron, Tim and Scott. Family and friends will gather at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 10am-11am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11am by Fr. Raymond Paul. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
