Dorothy Wesley

Dorothy Jane Mercer-Wesley, age 72, of Massillon passed away Wednesday May 19, 2010 at Meadow Wind Health Care Center. She was born November 7, 1937 in Massillon the daughter of the late James W. and Helen M. (Burke) Mercer. Dorothy was an R.N. and supervisor of labor and delivery with Massillon Community Hospital. She had also been employed by Meadow Wind Health Care Center. Dorothy was very proud of her nursing career and hundreds of children were born under her care. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved spending time with her family. She was a former member of the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church. Dorothy is survived by her children Renee (Frank Slocum) Wesley, and Gerald A. (Netsai) Wesley both of Massillon, and Herman R. (Katrina) Wesley of Florida, and their father William Wesley of Tampa, FL; sister Barbara Cortez of Massillon; brothers James A. (Gaye) Mercer of Waterville, OH, and Roland “Me-Too” (Shirley) Mercer of Canton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special niece Michelle “Mikee” Russell of Massillon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother George E. Mercer Sr. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. NE. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with visitation from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
