Dorothy Nell Davis

Dorothy Nell Davis, age 81 of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on July 29, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Roberta Springfield. Dorothy earned her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Walsh University and was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She retired as Director of Nursing with the Stark County Board of Health. She was an active member of Newman Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. She volunteered as a nurse at summer church and band camps. She was an active member and officer in many civic and church organizations. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Newell Davis in 2006 and two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Evan and Carol Davis, Glyn and Marcia Davis, Susan Davis and Verne Davis, her grandchildren, Evan Davis II, Meghan Strader, Sean Davis, Kristi Towne, Jessica Davis, Jason Davis, Brent Dingey and Ryan Dingey and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Carter, Cadence, Evan III, Caroline, Zachary, Alexander, Zane, Adam, Megan and Lauren. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 AM at Newman Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home and on Monday at the church one hour before the service.
