Dorothy Marie Gaines

Dorothy Marie Gaines, 93, passed away Tuesday evening May 1 , 2012 at Laurels of Massillon, surrounded by her family. She was born in Mellon, WV, on May 18, 1918 to the late Andrew J. & Sarah V. Trader Eddy. She moved to the Massillon area in 1943. Dorothy had worked at Tyson, Perry High School and then for The Massillon State Hospital for 21 years retiring in 1979. She is survived by: her two daughters; Shelby J. Pennell and Phyllis Ellington both of Massillon, three grandchildren; Kim Jagers, Missy Homnes and Tina M. Soper, five great-grandchildren; Nicole, Jimmy, Seth, Tanner and Cody. She was preceded in death by her: first husband, Louis D. Higginbotham in 1943, second husband, Robert Gaines in 1970, three brothers, four sisters, and a daughter May Marie Higginbotham. A private gathering was held.
