Dorothy “ Dot” Bachtel-Homman, 93, passed away at home on October 30, 2021, following an extended illness. She was born on January 21, 1928 in Massillon to James W. and Zella R. (Walter) Dutton. Dot was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School and retired from First Merit Bank in 1990. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Massillon Women’s Club both bridge and music sections, and Wesley Ladies Guild. Dot was an avid bridge and card player. She was active in a couples club which started in 1947. Dot was devoted to her church, family and friends. She believed in living life to the fullest. She is survived by her children, Vicki Manley, Dennis (Debbie) Bachtel and Rindi (Bob) Sibila; grandchildren, Lora (Mark) Melott, John (Keith Bowling) Manley II, Jill Manley, Matthew (Stacey) Bachtel, Mark (Amanda) Bachtel, Bob Sibila II and Rick (Rikki) Sibila; seventeen great-grandchildren; and special friend, Tom Madaffer. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Bachtel; second husband, Ted Homman; four brothers, Virg, Russ, Eldred and Don Dutton; sister, Mary Etta Blosfield; and son-in-law, John Manley. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2-4pm and at the Central Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 10am-11am with a funeral service to be held at 11am in the Church, Rev. Tricia Petraven, officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Gardens. Due to the pandemic the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing is encouraged.
