Dorothy “Dotty” Glines, 92, of Canton, Ohio peacefully left this world while surrounded by family on Tuesday and entered fully into the presence of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Glines; oldest son, Larry Glines; brother Lawrence Jordan; sister Nobeline Powell; and parents Walter Jordan and Odie E. (Rich) Jordan.
She’s survived by her children Peggy Russell, Tim (Debra) Glines, and Pam (Bob) Baldassari; grandchildren Amy Glines, Ryan (Josie) and Kelly Stubenrauch, Dan (Heather) Russell, and Olivia and Robert Baldassari, Tori (Alec) Werthman; greatgrandchildren Caroline, Ellie, and Jacob Stubenrauch and Gabriel and Garrett Russell; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Dotty was born in Princeton, Kentucky on February 24, 1930. She excelled at learning from a young age, winning spelling bees, bypassing her seventh grade year for eighth grade, and eventually being offered a four-year college scholarship. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee after high school and cherished her time spent at the Ryman Auditorium and the Earnest Tubb Record Shop. She soon met her husband George when he walked past her front porch while on military leave and struck up a conversation. They were married on August 12, 1950, and moved to Canton, Ohio where they lived, worked, and raised four children.
Throughout her life, Dotty was everything to everyone. Deeply involved with her family and friends, teaching Sunday School at Perry Christian Church for 40+ years, and generally doing anything for anyone without a whisper of complaint. She loved traveling to see family, reading, and beating anyone from small children to her friends at Euchre, Rummikub, or any other game.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday November 18th at Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr NW, Canton, OH 44708. Family and friends are invited to calling hours before the memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in her name to Perry Christian Church where Dotty was a member for nearly 70 years.
